Awarding Inspirational On-Pack Promotion
Cape Town, 12 November 2009: Pyrotec, the privately owned South African company that specialises in providing innovative and top quality product identification solutions, recently announced the winners of its annual Pyro Inspirations Awards. Designed to shine the spotlight on superior on-pack activity and to establish on-pack as a standalone media category, the awards were engineered by Pyrotec Packmedia which offers novel on-pack promotion and communication vehicles. Held at the upmarket Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town’s leafy suburb of Newlands, guests were treated to a sumptuous lunch while marketing specialist and lecturer, Clive Glover hosted the proceedings.
…And the winner is
Vet’s Choice, a premium range of dog food, walked away with first prize including a three night getaway for two people to Barra Lodge in Mozambique which is awarded to both the brand owner, Royal Canin. It received this accolade for its innovative Wing label which doubled-up as a discount voucher.
The judges, a panel of five experts from the printing, packaging, FMCG and advertising industries, commended Vet’s Choice for its solid on-pack artwork which highlighted the consumer message, the usage of a discount coupon to incentivise purchase and provide an element of instant gratification.
…And the runner up is
Second place was awarded to Grant’s Whiskey which beat off the other finalists including Leopard’s Leap Wines and its Scratch and Win bottle neck promotion, Dermatological E45 Moisturising Lotion’s SMS competition and Purina One Pet Food’s on-pack Discount Voucher.
Grant’s Whiskey’s “Try a Different Angle” on-pack promotion made use of Pyrotec’s Fix-a-Form device which, according to the judges, was brand-relevant, demonstrated campaign integration and engaged customers in a new way. The prize for brand owner Edward Snell and for BrandSmith, the creative agency? An all-expenses paid two night getaway to a luxury resort in Knysna.
