Pyrotec’s PackMedia Division held its 1st Pyro Inspirations Finalist award on the 11 November at the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town to end off this years’ Pyro Inspirations campaign. Judges were pre-selected to evaluate the five on-pack promotional devices that had been selected as the finalists for 2008.
From the five finalists, Virgin Active’s On Product Publishing Labelzine won the 1st Prize of a four night getaway, for two, to Mozambique’s Barra Lodge. The Alternative Beverage Company was the runner-up for their Cactus Jack Coinage Fix-a-Form and received a two night getaway, for two people, to the Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa in Hermanus.
The Pyro Inspirations Campaign was started for two reasons: To recognise and reward superior on-pack activity and to establish on-pack as a stand alone media category. Judges were chosen from various industries to judge the on-pack promotional devices on a bi-monthly basis. Elements judged included Originality (Innovation – Freshness – Design), Impact (Eye catching – Wow factor – Selling Power) and Clever Use of Space (Amount of information – Relevance to Product – Functionality).
Positive feedback was given by the guests and judges alike: they were pleased to have been part of the campaign since its beginnings and considered it a great success. Guests also noted that they felt motivated to think more out-of-the-box in terms of future promotions.
